I have always had an interest in Art and it has always been part of my life. I loved Art class the most at school and from an early age I wanted to be a painter.

I have recently ventured into the digital realm of drawing. I am finding this quite a challenge as I have had no training in this whatsoever. All very exciting really. I look forward to meeting new people here and making some friends.

All Apologies, Kurt Cobain, 27 Club Series by Slimewowgrogga
All Apologies, Kurt Cobain, 27 Club Series
Kurt Donald Cobain,

(February 20, 1967 – April 5, 1994) was a Singer, Songwriter and Visual Artist. Lead singer of the band Nirvana, known as the most popular Grunge band and the band to change everything and the voice of Generation X.

Nirvana's Song "Smells like Teen Spirit" has been voted the number one most influential song in the 90's and was also voted number one song of all time by Australia's Triple J's radio station listeners.

Kurt battled with Heroin addiction, fame and bipolar disorder. He was the best example of a "rags to riches" story in the 90's. Just a few weeks before Nirvana's second album "Nevermind" was released and took Nirvana to stardom, Kurt was living in his car and had been knocked back for a job application for cleaning dog kennels.

Nirvana's work was rebellious, raw, noisy and catchy. His harsh pop melodies and dark lyrical content resonated with a jilted generation that needed a voice. He became it. Rebelling against dying glam rock and popular electronic dance music, Nirvana brought listeners back to a live wall of sound engineered by Butch Vig (Drummer of Garbage) under the label of Sub Pop Records with the Album "Nevermind" in 1991, their second studio album.

He wore rather normal plain clothes, which allowed for people to identify with him, except for some of his more eccentric apperences, for example, he made an appearance in drag for an MTV interview.

Kurt had grown up with a gay friend in high school and had been harrassed and bashed along with his friend for some people accused him of being gay as his friend was thought to be homosexual.

After Kurts tragic death conspiracy theories didn't take long to surface. He was thought to have killed himself with a shotgun after escaping from rehab, he was found days later after his death. This was conscidered to some to be very suspicious in nature.

A good film to watch about this is the Channel 4 docummentary "Kurt and Courtney". During the making of this film it must be noted that Courtney Love (Kurt's Wife) was trying her hardest to halt it's production by threatening lawsuits.

This picture captures Kurt with his gender bender Jackie O' sunglasses and his chipped red nail polished finger nails whilst dragging on a cigarette. You can't get Grungier than that.

RIP Kurt Cobain, 20 Feb 1967 - 5 April 1994.

Rapture, Jean-Michel Basquiat, 27 Club Series by Slimewowgrogga
Rapture, Jean-Michel Basquiat, 27 Club Series
Jean-Michel Basquiat,

(December 22, 1960 – August 12, 1988) was an American artist, musician, poet, and producer. He began as a graffiti artist in New York City in the late 1970s and evolved into Neo-expressionist artist during the 1980s.

In 1976, Basquiat and friends Al Diaz and Shannon Dawson began spray-painting graffiti on buildings in Lower Manhattan, working under the pseudonym SAMO. The designs featured inscribed messages such as "Plush safe he think.. SAMO" and "SAMO as an escape clause." On December 11, 1978, the Village Voice published an article about the graffiti. The SAMO project ended with the epitaph "SAMO IS DEAD," inscribed on the walls of SoHo buildings in 1979.

In 1979, Basquiat appeared on the live public-access television cable TV show TV Party hosted by Glenn O'Brien, and the two started a friendship. Basquiat made regular appearances on the show over the next few years. That same year, Basquiat formed the noise rock band Gray with Shannon Dawson, Michael Holman, Nick Taylor, Wayne Clifford and Vincent Gallo. Gray performed at nightclubs such as Max's Kansas City, CBGB, Hurrah, and the Mudd Club. In 1980, Basquiat starred in O'Brien's independent film Downtown 81, originally titled New York Beat. That same year, O'Brien introduced Basquiat to Andy Warhol, with whom he later collaborated. The film featured some of Gray's recordings on its soundtrack. Basquiat also appeared in the Blondie music video "Rapture" as a nightclub disc jockey.

In June 1980, Basquiat participated in The Times Square Show, a multi-artist exhibition sponsored by Collaborative Projects Incorporated (Colab) and Fashion Moda. In 1981, Rene Ricard published "The Radiant Child" in Artforum magazine, which brought Basquiat to the attention of the art world.

In late 1981, he joined the Annina Nosei gallery in SoHo. By 1982, Basquiat was showing regularly alongside other Neo-expressionist artists including Julian Schnabel, David Salle, Francesco Clemente, and Enzo Cucchi. He was represented in Los Angeles by the Larry Gagosian gallery and throughout Europe by Bruno Bischofberger. He briefly dated then-aspiring performer, Madonna, in late 1982. That same year, Basquiat also worked briefly with musician and artist David Bowie.

In 1983, Basquiat produced a 12" rap single featuring hip-hop artists, Rammellzee and K-Rob. Billed as Rammellzee vs. K-Rob, the single contained two versions of the same track: Beat Bop on side one with vocals and Beat Bop on side two as an instrumental. The single was pressed in limited quantities on the one-off Tartown Record Company label. The single's cover featured Basquiat's artwork making the pressing highly desirable among both record and art collectors.
Basquiat often painted in expensive Armani suits and would even appear in public in the same paint-splattered suits.

By 1986, Basquiat had left the Annina Nosei gallery, and was showing in the famous Mary Boone gallery in SoHo. On February 10, 1986, he appeared on the cover of The New York Times Magazine in a feature entitled "New Art, New Money: The Marketing of an American Artist". He was a successful artist in this period, but his growing heroin addiction began to interfere with his personal relationships.

When Andy Warhol died on February 22, 1987, Basquiat became increasingly isolated, and his heroin addiction and depression grew more severe. Despite an attempt at sobriety during a trip to Maui, Hawaii, Basquiat died on August 12, 1988, of a heroin overdose at his art studio in Great Jones Street in New York City's NoHo neighborhood. He was 27.

Aint No Rules, The Son of Man Parody by Slimewowgrogga
Aint No Rules, The Son of Man Parody
René François Ghislain Magritte (21 November 1898 – 15 August 1967) was a Belgian surrealist artist. He became well known for a number of witty and thought-provoking images. His work challenges observers' preconditioned perceptions of reality.

This is a parody of his work "The Son of Man" (1964)

I missed Easter Confest due to illness and money.  My gout came back with a vengence and really it was great I didn't decide to go cause I wouldn't have been able to drive back.  Anyway  I have been doing some drawing on my pad on Sketch Club.  It is a great ap.  I strongly suggest it.  It comes with it's very own social newtork that has competitions and is much like this site.  Don't worry I wont be leaving.  you can't sell anything there.

On another note Google+ is the latest web 2.0 social network that is set to give facebook a run for its money.  Great features of this social network are the way you can create "circles" and these are basically groups and each post you make you can select who you want to share things with.  If you have something a little adult well don't share it with your minor circle.  I think this is absolutely great and the really bomb that will kill facebook is that it has what are called "hangouts".  These are basically video conference rooms with your circles.  Facebook better develop their technology quick to keep up with this feature.  Also Skype could be in trouble too since it wants to charge people to video call more than one person.  How lame is that when you can get it for free.  Oh BTW no bloody ads on GOOGLE+ and no annoying aps yet to data mine you.

I remember the old days of skype where I had a $4.95 monthly subscription which allowed me to call any land line in Australia free and it also gave me voicemail and an online number.  These days every time you log in you are faced with a bloody ad asking you to become a subscriber or put it on your phone which I did bloody years ago and I still have to view this shit.  Anyway now its nearly $8.00 a month and you have to pay $80.00 a year for the online number.  I thought Voip was supposed to make all this cheaper.

Anyway enough of biatchin,  I just want to say....

I have GOOGLE+ invites to hand out to other creative types.  You currently can only get GOOGLE+ with an invitation and I have heaps.  Email me at Slimewowgrogga@gmail.com if you would like one.  I am only too happy to share.  It would be great to get to know you all a bit better too.

Peace, Love and Mung Beans.
